警戒すべき性器疣贅―開業医からの症例報告―Genital Warts which must be warned: Case report from a medical practitioner
渡辺医院Watanabe Clinic
I have examined 29 cases of small genital warts, all diagnosed as Condyloma acuminatum histopathologically; however, the warts did not have features typical to C. acuminatum. I suspected that these patients suffered from a human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, excluding types 6 and 11. Recently, using genetic analysis, various types of HPVs, besides type 6 or 11, were detected from warts previously diagnosed as C. acuminatum. Additionally, high-risk HPVs were intermixed with other types in some cases. However, these cases remain unclear. Therefore, they cannot be distinguished by examination and inspection only in a single phase. Consequently, warts should not be checked at their first expression only to prevent cervical cancer and HPV-related cancer. Finally, I conclude that careful observation is of utmost importance for the correct diagnosis. Furthermore, an appropriate treatment based on prudent disease investigation is necessary.
