A 62-year-old man presented to our hospital with meatal warts and voiding urethrorrhagia. The patient had some past histories of genital warts and condylomas of the urethral meatus and fossa navicularis, which had been treated by electrocoagulation and imiquimod cream application. Cystoscopic examination revealed a papillary tumor on 6 cm proximal to the urethra of the meatus. The urethral tumor underwent transurethral resection by cold cup forceps and was then evaporated using a holmium YAG laser. A diagnosis of urethral condyloma acuminatum was made based on pathological examination, and human papillomavirus-11 DNA was detected from the tumor tissue by flow-through hybridization analysis. Neither definite recurrences nor complications have been observed for 2 years following the laser treatment. Holmium YAG laser vaporization may be an effective and safe tool for the treatment of urethral condyloma.
